Technical Requirements for Investment Education
Making financial education accessible doesn't mean you need expensive equipment. Here's what actually matters when you're learning about investment fundamentals through BraynKraaft.
Look, we've seen people stress about whether their laptop from 2018 will work. It will. We've also had folks ask if they need three monitors and a trading-specific setup. They don't. The truth is that learning about investment fundamentals works best when technology gets out of the way rather than becoming another hurdle.
Device Requirements That Actually Make Sense
Most devices from the past five years handle our learning platform without breaking a sweat. We're talking about laptops, desktops, tablets—even phones work for reviewing content when you're on the go.
- Any computer running Windows 10 or later, macOS from 2019 onwards, or a current Linux distribution
- Tablets like iPads (2018 and newer) or Android tablets with at least 3GB RAM
- Smartphones for supplementary access—useful for reading articles and watching videos, though spreadsheets get cramped
- A stable internet connection averaging 5 Mbps download speed
- Around 10GB of free storage if you download course materials for offline review
Browser and Software Basics
Our platform runs through standard web browsers. Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge—they all work fine as long as they're reasonably current. We recommend updating to versions released within the past year.
For spreadsheet work in our financial modelling modules, you'll want either Microsoft Excel (2016 or later), Google Sheets, or LibreOffice Calc. Most assignments work across all three, though we provide files in Excel format by default.
PDF reading comes up constantly since that's how we distribute reference materials. Any standard PDF reader handles this—no need for premium software.
Connectivity
Wi-Fi or wired connection works. Mobile hotspots are fine too, though video content uses about 500MB per hour at standard quality.
Audio Setup
Built-in speakers usually suffice, but headphones help during webinars when background noise becomes an issue.
Optional Extras
A second screen makes comparing documents easier. External keyboard and mouse improve comfort during longer sessions.
Technical Support Insights
Callum Birchwood
Technical Support Coordinator
"Honestly, about 90% of technical questions we get are solved by clearing the browser cache or updating to the latest version. The platform itself is pretty forgiving—it's designed to work on everyday devices rather than requiring specialized hardware."
Lachlan Thorsby
Platform Development Lead
"We test everything on older hardware deliberately. When someone's learning about compound interest calculations, the last thing they should worry about is whether their 2019 laptop can handle it. It can, and we make sure of that before releasing updates."
